IMA Qatar Chapter conducts a seminar about Value Added Tax (VAT) in the GCC
On August 21st 2016, The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Qatar Chapter has conducted a seminar under the title “Value Added Tax (VAT) in the GCC” in cooperation with Ernst & Young Qatar. The event was attended by more than 170 of business and financial professionals. The guest speaker, Jennifer O Sullivan, Tax Director E&Y, explained the technical aspects and regime of VAT in GCC effective from 1stJan.2018. In addition to this, she emphasized on importance of different aspects of VAT to run a business and its effect on business and GCC. She also underlined current economic scenario going in GCC and Government’s plan and need to diversify income sources and the developments negatively affecting Government revenues in the region such as reduced income from oil revenues. Apart from this, she concluded impact of Value Added Tax (VAT) in GCC to drive economy of a country.
IMA is the worldwide association of accountants and financial professionals working in business. It represents more than 80,000 members worldwide and over 300 local chapters from which Qatar chapter is one of them.
This event was inaugurated by Mr. Moamen Omer, President - IMA Qatar Chapter who explained importance of the CMA credential in managerial accounting for accountants and finance managers. His core essence through this event is to ignite all representatives to excel and compete in competitive world. IMA Qatar Chapter had also announced in the event the new elected Board members of Qatar and rewarded the outgoing Board members with mementos for their contribution to the chapter".
